Aside from working on my print portfolio, I’ve been helping out friends with screen printing projects:

These bandanas are for my friends bowling team, Bowltron. Bowltron is part of the punk rock bowling league here in SF and plan to go to the big Punk Rock Bowling Tournament in Las Vegas. It should be fun times.

These are test prints for Good Krama, a local apparel company that my neighbor co-owns. Good Krama sells beautiful handmade krama scarves and proceeds go to helping communities and needy children in Cambodia. Droplets from the weekend storm:

I was hoping that since I’m done with school, I’d be posting more regularly. However, I’ve actually been working on my portfolio, photographing all my favorite pieces from the past year and updating the current layout. In the meantime I’ve also managed to find a few new distractions.

This is my latest silkscreen of a sketch, doodle, drawing or whatever you want to call it, from last semester. I scanned it and vectorized it to clean up the lines and whatnot. Now that I have a bit more time on my hands, I plan to explore more with color and layering in screen printing. Stay tuned for prints.
I’ve also started a new endeavor with my buddy Eric concerning illustration and typography. New year, new projects. But more info on that later…

The other night I taught some friends how to screen print. The lesson included burning the image on to the screen and Gocco printing.

The logo was designed by me for Eric and Chris’s bowling team, Thorns of Death. And in case you’re wondering, the name Thorns of Death is an homage to Blake Schwarzenbach’s (of Jawbreaker) band Thorns of Life.

The shirts.

So before we actually printed the shirts, I taught everyone how to Gocco while the screen was exposing in another room.

Here’s Hsinya looking over her first Gocco print ever.

Collaboration between Eric & Hsinya.

Everyone with their prints, plus Chris waving in the back.

I don’t know how I had time to do this, but in the end it was a ton of fun and I’m really flattered that my friends wanted me to teach them how to screenprint. I wish I had more time to do projects like this.

My poor neglected blog. I’m sorry I’ve abandoned my two readers. But as you know, I’ve been busy learning to screen print and hanging out with these trouble makers:

This semester for an independent study project, 3 talented friends and I have formed The The EKGM Collective. We’re a design collective made up of diy loving graphic and product designers. We design, print and make; and I’m totally excited to be finally collaborating with 3 awesome designers! Watch out for our shenanigans and process on our blog.
